These photos were taken this morning.  We were headed east at 65 mph.  This is a reason to get up early!  What an amazing gift from God!

Friday Night Lights

Filed under: Mom Stuff, Stepmom Rants — by tulips4me @ 10:27 am

I love Friday night football games.  The lights, concession stand food, cheerleaders, hot chocolate, excited Hubby, not to mention how excited Sons # 2 & # 3 become when they get to see their big brother play!  If we are lucky the highlights of the game are shown on the local news on Sunday morning!  It’s pretty cool to see your kiddo make (or miss) an awesome tackle on TV!  He has certainly had his share of both.

This Friday will be a little different since the game will be at a school that is about 60 miles away.  We have decided to spend the night and come back on Saturday morning instead of making our way home at 10:30 at night.  Son #1 got permission from his coach and ED to stay with us, instead of riding home on the team bus after the game.  This is a pretty big deal since ED has spent the last several years doing everything she can to keep Hubby from having any overnight visits.

Hubby, who always wants to do the right thing, gave the hotel info to ED even though he has a cell phone and could be reached at any time via that phone.  ED called this morning to tell us that she and her husband have decided that they will also stay the night and have made a reservation at the same hotel.  SERIOUSLY!!!!  The town we will be in is a resort town and there are a TON of hotels in said town.  Why on earth would she find it necessary to stay at the same hotel we are at?  Is it not bad enough that we have to sit in the same football stadium with her for an entire football game?

Lord help me!

Test Results – Fabulous News

Filed under: Mom Stuff, Uncategorized — by tulips4me @ 8:07 am

Dr. Great called yesterday to discuss Son #2’s test results from the procedure.  The good news is that he does not have a disease, an infection, any allergens, or anything else that they were looking for when they did the biopsies.  He does have some erosion in his stomach, which we have been treating since he had the procedure.  It is possible that the erosion is what was causing him to throw up, but Dr. Great is not certain that the erosion is the cause, so we will continue to treat the erosion.  Once the course of treatment is complete, we will wait to see what happens…

Waiting, have I mentioned that this is not something that I am very good at?

Terrified of School

Filed under: Work Stuff — by tulips4me @ 1:49 pm

Let me start by saying that I really like my current job.  I put up with a lot of corporate junk, but who doesn’t?

I am considering a job change because there is no room for advancement at my present company.  As part of the corporate junk, we have to do a succession plan each year.  In some departments this makes sense, in mine, not so much.  At a recent performanace evaluation, my boss and I joked that my succession plan would need to involve either buying her a winning lottery ticket or pushing her into traffic.  I don’t play the lottery and I am fairly certain it would be difficult to get promoted if I were in jail.

This brings me to the title of my post.  In order to advance my career and make the change that I am considering, I need to go to school for about 3 months in order to obtain a certification.  My prospective employer is willing to pay for the certification if I pass the exam.  I am terrified that I will not be able to retain the information that will allow me to pass the exam.  I have been in this industry for more than 14 years.  I know the business.  The problem is that the certification really has nothing to do with what I actually do for a living, it is aimed at a large segment of people in my industry, but really does not relate to what I do.  The state has determined that all people in my industry must now have this certification so that we can all be regulated….UGH!

The school that I am considering going to has classes at night and they offer an online virtual classroom.  Due to timing issues, I am going to have to sign up for the virtual classroom and hope that I can convince My Hubby and the three Amigos to allow me to study.

Please pray for me as I consider my options in this situation.

The Procedure Part 2

Filed under: Mom Stuff — by tulips4me @ 12:43 pm

My Favorite Puker (Son #2) was a trooper yesterday.  The procedure was scheduled for 11:30 AM, which meant that he could not eat after dinner the night before and he could not have anything to drink after 7:30 AM yesterday.  Needless to say, he was very hungry when we left the hospital.  Dr. Great performed the procedure and My Favorite Puker came through just fine.  We now have to wait, ever to patiently, for the results of the biopsies.  Have I mentioned that waiting is not my favorite thing to do?

By 6:00 PM My Favorite Puker was insisting that he be taken to soccer practice.  Unbelievable!  The few times that I have had general anesthesia, all I have wanted to do afterward was sleep.  He really is a trooper!

The Procedure

Filed under: Mom Stuff — by tulips4me @ 7:34 pm

Son #2 is scheduled for an upper GI procedure in the morning.  Dr. Great will take pictures of is GI tract and will take 10 biopsy samples.  It seems when children undergo this type of procedure, they are put under general anesthesia.  This makes me very nervous.  I had a very difficult time functioning at work today.  I am very worried about the conditions and diseases that Dr. Great is planning to rule out.  I know that this should really be a positive thing because they will be ruled out, but what if…?

Okay, I am not going to what if.  I am going to pray and trust in my Heavenly Father.  At least I am going to try to trust.  It is hard to be a Mom.

Another Specialist

Son #2 had an appointment with the pediatric GI specialist today.  He was great!  Dr. Great spoke to Son #2.  He asked Son #2 questions and he made jokes that Son #2 thought were very funny.  When Son #2 and I got in the car, he said I really liked Dr. Great.  When I inquired as to why he liked him so much he said, “Because he is goofy like Dad.”  I think this is a pretty big complement for Dr. Great!

Son #2 needs to have a scope and some samples taken in order to determine what is causing him to be my favorite puker.  I hope to get a call tomorrow from Dr. Great’s office to schedule the procedure.

Please continue to pray for Son #2.
